Palolo  Community  in  peril

Palolo residents living along Waiomao Rd and Kuahea St are concerned for their property, their homes, and their safety.

Earth movement has caused the collapse of Kuahea St as well as private side roads.  City utility lines have repeatedly broken, leading to severe damage from leaking water mains and sewer pipes.  Several properties have been condemned by the City & County of Honolulu.  Many residents continue to live in homes that are being pulled apart but the shifting roads, continually asking the city for resolution to this threatening situation.

This community needs the city's help!   Please support city action to increase transparency, remediate damages, and mediate with property owners impacted by damaged city infrastructure.

Waiomao Road - 2021
Families have been forced to move as their homes have been condemned and demolished.  Sidewalks have become impassible.  The road is an ever-shifting danger to drivers, and threatens nearby properties.

One of the most dramatic areas of the slide - the intersection of Kuahea Place and Kuahea St has a deep drop-off.  The city has relinquished care of this side street, leaving residents to access properties through a make-shft ramp.

The blue line in this image shows the extent of the city's remediation zone for the Waiomao-Kuahea slide.  Residents desperately need the city to expand the scope of remediation efforts to protect both city infrastructure and family homes.
