Yesterday the court ruled in favor of the City and has permitted possession of the last
remaining property forthwith. We must start Ph2 immediately. I realize this is a bit
sudden, but not unexpected.
This week we will begin fencing off the property and mobilizing some equipment and
material. During the week of 1 June we will begin demolition of the property followed by
commencing Phase 2.
I will be provide an update at the next neighborhood board meeting.

The city releases its 2021 budget and list <3M$ for Design and Construction projects related to the Waiomao-Kuahea slide area - a seemingly tiny sum given the many properties involved (see page 9).
Kuahea Place - City Notices: 2018 City plans to repair Kuahea Pl, 2019 City relinquishes responsibility for repairs
Although in 2018 the City expressed a commitment to repair damage to Kuahea Place, by 2019 the City declared that damage was so extreme that it was no longer safe to maintain (both notices available for download below). While Kuahea Place is classified as a private road, it is eligible for city maintenance under HRO 14.32.2 (below).
